About Ruth Handcock

Ruth is passionate about reducing the stress that people feel managing their finances.  As CEO of Octopus Investments she focuses on doing this by harnessing technology to improve access to financial services and financial advice. She is proud that Octopus invests in sectors she cares about, ones that make a positive difference to the world we live in.

So far in her career, Ruth has had fourteen jobs: newspaper deliverer, car washer, checkout operative, factory salad chopper (night shift), receptionist, lab technician, editor, consultant, government adviser, COO, finance director, chief of staff, head of customer and CEO. She’s very happy to know that whatever Octopus throws at her, she doesn’t have to worry about chopping off her thumb at 3am.

Away from Octopus, Ruth’s young family helps her develop her patience by making her do the same Postman Pat jigsaw over and over again.
