Octopus AIM Inheritance Tax ISA top up toolkit

Help your clients top up their Octopus AIM Inheritance Tax ISA before tax year end. We’ve pulled together everything you need.

What is the toolkit?

If you have clients who could benefit from topping up their AIM ISA investment, you’ll find some helpful resources on this page.

The Octopus AIM Inheritance Tax ISA invests in the shares of 25-30 companies listed on the Alternative Investment Market expected to qualify for Business Property Relief. Provided a client has owned their shares for at least two years when they die, they can be passed on free of inheritance tax.

Over the lifetime of an investment, clients can choose to increase their holdings with us as their needs change. They can top up by using their annual ISA subscription or by transferring further funds from an existing ISA.

Why clients should top up

Risks to bear in mind

The value of an investment, and any income from it, could fall as well as rise. Your client might not get back the full amount they invest.

The shares of the AIM-listed companies we invest in are likely to fall and rise in value more than shares listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

An Octopus Inheritance Tax ISA is likely to be higher risk than more mainstream stocks and shares ISAs. They may also be harder to sell.

Tax treatment depends on the client’s individual circumstances and tax rules could change in the future.

Tax relief depends on the portfolio companies maintaining their qualifying status.
