AIM VCTs portfolio company story: SDI Group

Designing and manufacturing scientific and technology products.

SDI Group plc designs and manufactures products in two main areas; digital imaging and sensors and control. This is for a variety of industries including life sciences, healthcare, astronomy, consumer manufacturing and art conservation.

Advancing industries like healthcare and astronomy

The need for scientific and technology products in the life science and medical industries has been robust during the pandemic. In fact, some of the companies in the SDI Group have been awarded large one-off contracts to supply equipment to help test for, or treat, COVID-19.

Examples of the types of products SDI Group create include high performance cameras for use in deep astronomy as well as cameras for art conservation and restoration. Another example includes the manufacture and supply of chillers, coolers and heat exchangers used within the industrial, medical and scientific markets.

SDI has a clear vision to develop and diversify its existing technologies and to grow through strategic acquisitions.

“We are investing in companies at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation.”

Ken Ford, Chairman

What our fund managers say
